The Mechanical Organs in the Museum

 

The Gavioli 62 key fairground organ was built in Paris by the Gavioli family in c1843.This in one of the very few fair organs still in operating on the barrel system,the instrument has original barrels and was purchased by Mr Finbow in the 1960's from a Mr Bailey.

The Limonaire 50 key fairground organ was built by Limonaire of Paris as a barrel organ and was providing the music in a set of gallopers in France for a number of years. The instrument was converted to play punched booked system by Van Steenput.Mr Finbow purchased the instrument in the early 1970s from Mr P.Barlow

The Bruder 52 keyless fairground organ was built in the early 1900s by Gebruder of Waldkirch Germany and is one of the instruments built by this company that used the paper role system. The organ was purchased by organ dealer Mr A.D Gardner and purchased by MR finbow in the 1970s.

The Cragg keyless fairground organ was built in 1960,s by the organ builder Anthony Gragg as a keyless organ and later enlarged to 48.The organ was purchased from Mr Ctagg in 1993 by Mr Finbow.

Gebrs DeCap key Dance organ was built in the 1940s it is one of the early DeCap incorporating traditional pipes and an early electronic organ. The organ was purchased by Mr Finbow in the 1970s from organ dealer Mr A.D Gardner.

The Mortier 92 Key Dance organ No 977.1 was built in 1924.Some 1400 were built from c1890 to 1950.This organ was imported by the late Charles Hart from Holland on 18th April 1969 for Mt Stan Burgess.Mr Finbow purchased the instrument in the 1970s.
