The Wurlitzer

Housed in the Museum is a mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ, which was built by the Rudolph Wurlitzer Manufacturing Company in Stillwell Theatre, Brooklyn USA in 1926.Three years later in was removed, shipped to England and installed in the luxury Theatre in London, built by the legendary Jack Buchanan and which was later know as The Leicester Square Theatre.

In the early 1980's it was installed in the Mechanical Music Museum and Bygones at Cotton and rebuilt with an upright piano attachment added.

Over the past years the Wurlitzer has undergone a major overhaul to bring it back to factory condtion.Sererval thousand pneumatics have been re-leathered, over a mile of wire has been replaced and thirty four missing pipes replaced with new ones.
